David C. Pack

After the death of Herbert W. Armstrong in 1986 and the subsequent crumbling of his empire, most probably thought that was the end of it all. Actually, the massive collapse simply scattered seeds, so to speak, producing numerous clones competing with each other to take Armstrong’s place. David C. Pack is typical. In his case, Armstrong’s Worldwide Church of God became The Restored Church of God, The World Tomorrow TV program became The World to Come, and the Plain Truth magazine was resurrected as the Real Truth. Many others are playing similar name games hoping to create the impression they are the true heirs of Armstrong’s “commission.”

Today, Pack is claiming that the beast of Revelation is “just ahead.” The problem with this is Armstrong made the same claim in 1934 suggesting that the beast might be Mussolini, Stalin or Roosevelt. In 1956, he predicted the great tribulation would arrive by 1975. Of course, all of this came to nothing. So why Pack wants to be associated with such an abysmal failure is baffling. It’s doubtful he spends much time telling his duped followers about Armstrong’s failed predictions. (Telling them the truth might affect his income.)
