Jews Reject Christian Futurism

Keeping Jews Jewish

Some Jews know the New Testament better than a lot of Christians. Jews approach the text honestly because they have no need to protect Jesus. So, they can easily see he repeatedly predicted a first-century return. Since Christian futurism clearly implies such predictions have failed to materialize, Jews deem Jesus a false prophet to be utterly rejected. They are on solid biblical ground. (See Deut. 18:20-22.) The following are questions Jews pose to steer people away from Jesus and Christianity:
“How can we be sure that Jesus’ promises to return are false prophecy?”
“According to the Book of Revelation, Jesus promised to return ‘quickly.’ What does ‘quickly’ mean?”
“What does ‘shortly’ mean in Romans 16:20?”
“Didn’t the delay in Jesus’ second coming give further opportunity for people to be ‘saved’ by believing in him?”
“What does ‘this generation’ mean in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21?”
“Why do Christians claim there will be a second coming of Jesus?”
“How does the passage of time effect [sic] the Christian claim of a second coming of Christ?”
