My video 11:59 is good news. It means one minute before the return of Christ. It’s “right at the door” [Matt. 24:33].

Van Impe has been making similar pronouncements for decades. They have all failed, and so will this one. What he neglected to mention on his telecast is that Christ was “right at the door” in the first century:

8…the coming of the Lord is near. 9…behold, the Judge is standing right at the door. (Jas. 5:8b, 9b, NASB throughout)

So when Van Impe’s “return of Christ” doesn’t take place, will anyone remember his prediction? Will there be throngs of Christians calling him to account? Probably not. However, this record of his false prophecy will be available at Preterism.info long after his “one minute” is up.

Incidentally, we also wonder whether Van Impe would be willing to submit to the biblical punishment for making false predictions in the name of God:

20‘…the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak…that prophet shall die.

21“You may say in your heart, ‘How will we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’

22“When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.” (Deut. 18:20-22)
